The Opportunity: what this role is about? 

With recent growth in our services, we have several exciting opportunities to join our Permanent Reliever team. 

You will work alongside our people to provide day-to-day support. You will be supporting people with disabilities in a range of settings including in their home, out in the community and at our day services. The people we support love getting out into the community, whether its shopping, beach walks, coffee and cake outings, visiting friends, supporting the Crusaders, going to markets and fairs, or heading to the pub for a pint, to name just a few. 

The people we support have varying levels of need, and daily tasks vary from service to service but may include cooking, cleaning, medication administration, stores purchasing, personal cares, as well as facilitating community participation, recreational activities, and supporting people to achieve their goals. You may also provide person-centered support in homes where routine is critical; following details plans to meet the needs of the people. 

As a member of the Permanent Reliever Team, you get loads of variety in your role as you will be rostered to work across any of our houses. 

This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependent on qualification level pays between $23.15 and $28.25 per hour. 

Roster:

  • Thursday to Monday
  • Tuesday to Saturday
  • Sunday to Thursday 

40 hours minimum guaranteed per week/ 80 hours per fortnight 

As we are a 24/7 operation you would be rostered to work across the same days each week, however, as the role of a Permanent Reliever is to provide cover for both planned and unplanned leave, the actual hours and shifts you work across these days will vary depending on which shifts need covering at that time. These can include a range of morning, afternoon, evening, and sleepover shifts. You will be guaranteed the same two consecutive days off each week and will have the opportunity to pick up extra shifts should you wish to do so.

  • We are looking for people who are resilient, self-motivated, empathetic, and who have a passion for helping others and making a real difference in people’s lives.
  • You'll be a team player, with a positive outlook, able to problem solve using sound judgement and skills to manage risk and make thoughtful decisions. 
  • 1+ year(s) of relevant work experience minimum and Level 2/3 Health and Wellbeing Qualification is preferred/beneficial
  • A willingness to continue developing your skills as a Support Worker(Support Coordinator).
  • Candidates will need to complete Police Vetting and Children's Act safety check.

We feel that the title Support Coordinator better reflects the nature of the role, which requires working in partnership with the people receiving support to ensure we are achieving our organisation mission of every life fully lived.
